BIRTHDAY FUN!
You mean there is more to the present than the ribbon?

Elias learned about bubbles at the library story time, then his aunt Dayna and cousins bought him some, and Elias wanted to share bubbles with everyone that came to his birthday party!

A BIG thank you to Marilyn, Tressa, and Jenae for bringing snacks for everyone to enjoy.
And also to Aunt Dayna and Primos (cousins) who made a big fish cake blowing bubbles.. and the bubbles just happened to spell ELI!

House update: Kitchen

This week, in order to get ready for Elias' birthday party in our "backyard house", we worked A LOT! There were many moments that I didn't think we would be able to pull it off, but alas, with the help of our AMAZING family, we did!
Elias , Andy and Uncle Keith in the "kitchen" before it was put in.

Andy putting together the kitchen cupboards with Eli's help of course!

I spend 3 days ironing on banding for the plywood cupboard fronts that Andy made... next time I tell you we are going to build a house, remind me about this. On the upside, I got to listen to A LOT of random and mostly interesting radio shows. The world was going to end last Saturday... I almost spent my last 3 days on earth ironing on edging. Matthew 6:19-20
19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
came to mind a lot as I spent the week out working, this house may burn down, and we won't always live here, its just a house. Right now, its a job, an exciting yet sometimes boring one.
Then we had to take off the cupboard fronts to seal/stain them.
Two days before the party.... Im not sure if we are going to make it.

Ahhhhh....

Keys....

Elias will be 1 year old one week from today! I cant believe it, each day he amazes me with his cuteness and sweetness.
So, to brag, today he took my keys off the kitchen table, and crawled them over to the door, pulled himself up, and started putting them up to the door knob, he knew what mommy does with keys! I cant believe he is so smart!!!

Then he started eating them...

lately

We are working hard on our house trying to get it completed and safe enough to have people in it for Eli's first birthday... so after working all day we went out to eat at Red Robin, and then stopped by home depot before coming home to work more. Elias found a stray shopping cart, and knew what needed to be done with it.

last week Elias and I went to the lilac gardens and tulip festival with our friends Aksel and Denee!

yes, this is a typical picture of Elias when I set him down, take out my camera, and walk away....

Mother's Day

My mom's birthday is close to mother's day, so we kicked off mother's day eve be getting pictures taken of the "cousins" for my mom's birthday present. This is my sister in the mall with 6 kids right after we got pictures taken. I think she is AMAZING to be able to handle 5 kids ALL THE TIME!(She home schools) but she can do 6... I dont know how she will handle them all when I have more kids for her to help me with.

On mother's day itself Andy made me muffins, got Elias dressed, and arranged for me to go out to dinner with the local mother's in my family. I convinced them all to go to a Somali restaurant to try something new.

Mother's day in Mexico is on May 10th. At the mommy group at the Spanish Church, we threw a mother's day party on May 10th.

The Classic Picture

I have seen this one a few times... but with other people.
My turn now:

what was I thinking? Well, let me tell you: I ran out of the bathroom to put the towel in the wash thinking, yes, the toilet lid is down, he can't do too much damage in a few seconds...
